It is not for the sake of the husband, my dear, that he is loved, but for the sake of the wife that he is loved by the wife. Likewise, it is not for the sake of the wife, my dear, that she is loved, but for the sake of the husband that she is loved by the husband. The self, my dear Maitreyi, should be realized - it should be heard from the scriptures, reflected upon repeatedly, and meditated on.
